Two suicide bombers targeted a vehicle carrying five Japanese nationals employed at the Pakistan Suzuki Motors Company in an industrial area of Karachi on Friday. One of the two bombers set off his explosive vest near the vehicle, but it failed to strike the target. The other assailant then opened fire on the vehicle. Private security guards with the Japanese national and a police patrol nearby returned fire, killing the second attacker. One of the security guards and two civilian bystanders were injured in the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
