Protests Continue in Nicaragua

  • Hundreds of thousands of anti-government protesters took to the streets on Wednesday in Managua
  • Protesters are pressuring President Daniel Ortega to resign over previous use of deadly force by the government
  • At least three protesters were killed in the Wednesday demonstrations
  • Over 80 people have been killed and 900 wounded by police and pro-government factions since protests began on April 18

Why It Matters: With the government crackdown and body count piling up, it is unlikely that protests will slow down–in fact they may pick up. ┬áDestabilization of Nicaragua is becoming a growing concern and it is a situation worth monitoring.
