- Intergovernmental Authority on Development and East African Community meeting began on Wednesday in Entebbe, Uganda
- Intelligence members from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Somalia, Mauritius, South Sudan, Sudan, Djibouti, Comoros and Madagascar attended
- Major focus of the meeting was how to improve intelligence sharing, specifically in relation to terror organizations
Why It Matters: With Al Shabaab’s continued violence in Somalia and Kenya, along with the Allied Democratic Forces actions in Uganda, a holistic approach to counterterrorism is needed in the region. Enhanced intelligence sharing will only benefit these efforts.
